Nurses are Masters at the Fine Art of Caring

How to Become a Nurse

Nursing is a fabulous, rewarding career, but it is not without its challenges. It is one of the most physically and emotionally demanding and draining careers. However, in learning to become a nurse, it is imperative to learn how to replenish yourself. Nurses who learn to take care of themselves and refill their reserves are able to continue to be able to give. ME time is essential!

Nursing is a service profession. Nurses care for and provide services to patients. You must have a passion and a driving desire for helping and caring for patients. Some days your patients will be exceptionally demanding and needy and others not as much. No matter which day it is, your role and responsibility is to meet their needs. Finishing a conversation or responding to a personal text does not take precedence. Sometimes eating a meal or even going to the bathroom will have to wait because your patient needs you!

Nursing is NOT for everyone, but perhaps an allied health career is. Be sure to research your options and understand the demands of nursing as well as any other career choice you make.
