Writing for Nursing and Midwifery Students, Julio Gimenez teaches nurses how to write. Writing is essential to effective communication and documentation and most nurses struggle with it. Gimenez makes it easy for anyone to learn.

Gimenez breaks writing down into basics such as ensuring the writer has answered the most important questions of who, what, when, where, and why. The next point is the added punch of how; this is known to journalists as “the five w’s and an h.”

Simple Principles
Using a few simple principles, Gimenez helps nursing and midwifery students understand how to approach academic writings such as reports and essays. He then builds on the basics to understand how to approach subjects with critical thinking skills to derive excellent plans of care and to document the delivery.

He explains how to write an argument and state your point and then moves on to many other genres as well such as research proposals and dissertations for the advanced student. He even sneaks in some rules of grammar and punctuation.

Examples & Exercises
Using examples and a step-by-step workbook approach, Gimenez guides the reader through a series of exercises guaranteed to improve writing and communication skills. As the nurse works through the process of learning how to write well, the nursing process should become clear as well.
